Ms Avanthi Mandaleson is an Orthopaedic Surgeon and member of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons, with a focus on hand and upper limb surgery. Avanthi is interested in all aspects of hand, wrist and elbow traumatic, sports, arthritic and degenerative conditions. She manages all aspects of upper limb fractures. Commonly treated traumatic injuries include fractures and dislocations around the shoulder, elbow, wrist and fingers.
Avanthi is a Visiting Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon at Austin Hospital and at Monash Health where she is involved in teaching and training medical students, Orthopaedic surgeons and Hand Fellows. She continues her involvement in research and education through the University of Melbourne. Her research interests include the study of wrist kinematics, implant fixation techniques and improving arthroplasty outcomes. Her private practice is based around Warringal Private Hospital in Heidelberg.
Avanthi was born and educated in the UK prior to migrating to Australia in 2002. She has completed degrees in medical science and medicine from the University of Nottingham in the UK and Monash University. After completing her Orthopaedic training in Australia through the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons and Australian Orthopaedic Association, she undertook further subspecialty training in trauma and hand surgery in leading centres in Australia, Wrightington hospital, a leading orthopaedic upper limb centre in the UK and Ganga hospital in India, an international leader in microsurgical reconstruction.
