Accommodation

There are 18 Day Surgery beds and 19 overnight care beds.

15 of the overnight rooms are private rooms with ensuite facilities. Each bed is fully equipped with a telephone and television.

All our rooms are designed to provide our patients with a comfortable and comforting environment for their stay.

Every effort is made to accommodate you in the room of your choice.

Catering

We are very proud of our catering department. All meals are prepared by our respected Chef. If you have any special requirements please talk with the staff. A main meal is served at lunch and dinner, with a light alternative and vegetarian option also offered.

Wherever possible we source local and seasonal produce.

Meals and refreshments are served at the following times:
Breakfast               8.00am
Morning Tea         10.30am
Lunch                     12.00pm
Afternoon Tea      2.30pm
Dinner                    5.00pm

We recommend that you choose the light option for evening meal after surgery. The nursing staff will assist you in selecting the most suitable option, depending on the type of anaesthetic administered.

Ramsay Surgical Centre Glenferrie appreciates all feedback about the services that we provide and the manner in which they are delivered.

We encourage all patients to complete the feedback card which you will receive on admission.  Feedback is used to continually improve the quality of services provided.  The feedback provided is confidential and will not adversely affect your care or services provided for you.

Should you or your family wish to discuss any concerns during your stay, please discuss this with the Nurse Unit Manager?  Alternatively concerns may be raised with the Director of Clinical Services by contacting 9009 3828 or after hours the Hospital Coordinator on 90093822.

Department of Veterans’ Affairs Liaison Officer

We have a DVA Liaison Officer who is happy to be contacted. Please ask your nurse who will assist you to contact them.

Interpreter Service

The Telephone Interpreter Service is available on request.

Lost Property

If you have inadvertently left belongings behind, please contact the hospital. Any items not claimed after 3 months will be donated to charity or discarded.

Mail

Incoming mail is delivered daily. Any mail received after your departure will be forwarded to your home.

You may give outgoing mail to a staff member or leave it at Reception.

Mobile Phones

When you are admitted please ask our staff if mobiles can be used in your room. Mobiles may be used in all public areas including the coffee shop. Ramsay Surgical Centre Glenferrie does not accept any responsibility for loss or damage to your mobile phone.

Patient Transfers

Ramsay Surgical Centre Glenferrie is a short stay facility. The hospital closes on a Saturday and reopens each Monday morning.

This is taken into account when booking your procedure.

On the occasion that a patient may not be well enough to go home on a Saturday, we will arrange for you to be transferred for your ongoing care. This will be a planned, organised transfer via an Ambulance or Medical Transport system.

Parking

It is important to note that you should not drive yourself; rather someone should drive you to and from hospital. Limited on site parking is available. Parking is also available in the public car park opposite the hospital. Four hour parking is available in the spaces marked. Be aware that some of these spaces are permit only, so cannot be used.

A designated drop off and pick up car park is available at the front of the hospital directly to the left hand side of the front door. There is a disabled car park directly to the right of the front door.

Pharmacy

A pharmacy service is available for all your medication requirements.

Smoking

Smoking is not allowed in the hospital and is strongly discouraged at all times. Please discuss your needs with the nurse caring for you.

Tea & Coffee Making Facilities

There is an area for relatives to make a cup of tea of coffee. This area is located on the ground floor.

A staff member will direct you.

Telephones

There is a telephone by each bed. Local calls are complimentary. STD, international calls and call to mobile phones will be charged to your account.

Please do not use mobile telephones as they interfere with hospital equipment.

Television

There is a television by each bed. This can be controlled by the handset on your bed.

Valuables

We recommend that all your valuables be left at home as the hospital accepts no liability for items of value and cash brought into the hospital. Small items can be lodged in the hospital safe.  Do not leave valuable items, credit cards or cash unattended in your room.
